According to a blog post by Zach Maier, production manager of Google Maps, the navigating software’s upgrade will let you create lists and follow others’ without leaving the app.
Let’s say you’re wanting to try that restaurant. You can tap the place name and then the “Save” icon to add the place to one of your pre-set list. Of course, you can add the restaurant to a new list made by you. Icons for the places you’ve saved will appear on the map itself, so you’ll always know whether one of your must-try restaurants is nearby.
Google has also made it easier to share lists via text, e-mail, social networks, and popular messaging apps. You can send the link to anyone and they can “Follow” the list whenever they need it.
The lists you follow are with you wherever you take Google Maps and are viewable on mobile and desktop – even offline.
